My research concerns the development and synthesis of a combinatorial library of macrocyclic peptides with unnatural amino acids. The library will be used in screening of catalytic preferences of proteases with a focus on matriptase, a type II transmembrane serine protease which has been implicated in processes of cancer development, tumor progression and metastasis. I hope to obtain a selective macrocyclic substrate for matriptase which will serve as a basis in development of a macrocyclic inhibitor and activity-based probe for this enzyme.
