The main scope of my research is the activity assessment of proteolytic enzymes, with a strong emphasis on cysteine proteases, particularly SENPs. My work focuses on the expansion of the chemical toolbox available for human SENPs, including fluorogenic substrates and activity-based probes (ABPs), which may facilitate a deeper understanding of the SUMOylation process and the etiology of various diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.
My work bridges biology and chemistry, utilizing various techniques, including solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS), LC-MS analysis, kinetic studies, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, protein expression, and cell-based assays.
